In 2018, we became the first motorway contractor in Ireland to achieve ISO 50001 accreditation for energy management. Reducing our carbon footprint and improving energy efficiency remain key priorities as we align our operations with the National Climate Action Plan.
A practical example of this commitment is our landscaping maintenance service, which supports the All-Ireland Pollinator Plan and enhances biodiversity along transport corridors. In partnership with TII, we have reduced grass mowing in selected areas to create better habitats for pollinators and wildlife.
Our approach includes cutting grass less frequently and delaying the first mow until after 15 April each year, ensuring pollinators have access to food sources when they need them most.
Decarbonisation
ELS are committed to reducing our carbon impact and improving energy efficiency as we align our operations with the Climate Action Plan. ELS’s services are managed and delivered to minimise environmental impact, whilst maximising the benefits to the landscape spaces and the long-term value of the National Roads asset.
We are progressing toward certification under the CO2 Performance Ladder v4.0, and to validating our targets with SBTi.
