Fulltime Motorway Maintenance Operative

Applications are invited for the position of Fulltime Motorway Maintenance Operative to play a lead role in the delivery of the routine road maintenance from the Kilkenny Depot.

Job Specification:

Job Title: Fulltime Motorway Maintenance Operative
Department: Maintenance
Contract Type: Permanent
Location: Kilkenny
Reporting to: Maintenance Supervisor

Job Description:

  • The hands-on implementation of the day-to-day Project Road maintenance requirements.
  • To provide call-out cover to out-of-office hours emergency responses.
  • To carry out routine maintenance activities including:
  • Traffic Management
  • Winter Maintenance
  • Emergency Response
  • Bridge Maintenance
  • Accident Damage Repair (e.g. safety & boundary fence repair)
  • Road Furniture cleaning
  • Landscaping / Grass cutting
  • Litter collection
  • General maintenance duties
  • Keep accurate records of tasks completed

To undertake all allocated maintenance tasks as directed by the Maintenance Supervisor.

 

Person Specification:

Qualifications/ Education / Training

    Essential to the Role
  • 2nd level education
  • Class C drivers licence
  • Valid Safe Pass holder
  • Driver CPC
    Desirable to the Role
  • Up-to-date training/qualifications in:
  • Traffic Management
  • H&S Related training - First Aid, Fire Warden, Manual Handling. Safety Rep.
  • Other complementary work-related training courses/qualifications.
  • Class EC drivers licence.
  • CSCS Excavator Operator Ticket

Experience/Knowledge 

    Essential to the Role
  • Relevant experience with a background in Motorway / Road Construction / Maintenance.
  • Evidence of practical experience in one or more of the routine maintenance activities listed above
  • An understanding of and commitment to health and safety practices and principles
    Desirable to the Role
  • Experience in a similar role
  • Experience of motorway/road construction/maintenance
  • Knowledge of the standard methods, equipment, materials, tools, and practices used in performing the road maintenance activities


Skills/Abilities 

    Essential to the Role
  • Ability to work on own initiative and as part of a team
  • Good standard of written and spoken English
    Desirable to the Role
  • Technology – Ability to navigate mobile devices easily & associated apps/tools for recording of works.

  • Adaptable and flexible with a willingness to learn new job specific skills

Reserve Winter Service Drivers

Applications are invited for the position of Reserve Winter Service Drivers in the delivery of the routine road maintenance from the Kilkenny Depot.

Job Specification:

Job Title: Reserve Winter Service Drivers
Department: Maintenance
Contract Type: Part time on rostered basis
Location: Kilkenny
Reporting to: Maintenance Supervisor

Job Description:

  • Supplement the fulltime panel of drivers to undertake winter treatments in adverse weather conditions.
  • Reserve Winter Drivers will be appointed on a rotating ‘on-call’ roster. The position would ideally suit a locally based individual who is seeking to supplement their income. The candidate must be willing to work night-time hours and be available for call-out at short notice.
  • The successful candidate may also be requested to carry out routine maintenance activities on a casual basis including:
    • Road Furniture cleaning
    • Landscaping / Grass cutting
    • Litter collection
    • General maintenance duties
    • Traffic Management
    • Keep accurate records of tasks completed
    • Undertake all allocated maintenance tasks as directed by the Maintenance Supervisor.
